Endeavour is Australia's largest not-for-profit organisation supporting people with intellectual disability. We're based in Queensland, where we support around 3000 people through our 220+ service locations.

You won't find any tall poppy syndrome on the Great Endeavour, just down to earth Aussies banded together for the cause: seeing Australia and having fun while raising money for Endeavours essential work with people with intellectual disabilty.

Born out of the commitment and dedication of a group of parents to provide ongoing education and training to their own children with intellectual disability, Endeavour Foundation began as a self-funded and staffed "Special School" in 1952 on the veranda of a parent’s home in the southern Brisbane suburb of Coorparoo.

Such was the strength of purpose of these parents, that their organisation, then called the "Queensland Sub-Normal Children’s Welfare Association", attracted the support and interest of politicians, educators and the general community.

The organisation grew rapidly and with a high level of community support, the Association established facilities and services and sponsored the development of like minded groups in regional areas.

The organisation commenced under the name of "The Queensland Sub-Normal Children’s’ Welfare Association". It was not until 1982 that this name was changed to Endeavour Foundation. In the space of thirty years, the organisation had developed into a state wide body, offering a multitude of services to people with intellectual disability.

In 1986 the Department of Education took over the role of providing education to children with intellectual disability, leaving Endeavour to concentrate on the provision of development and support services to adolescents and adults with intellectual disability.

Today Endeavour Foundation provides services for 3,000 Queenslanders with intellectual disability and their families. The organisation has branches covering the whole state, has a large membership and conducts many successful fundraising and promotional activities.
